What is AMIH?

AMIH is a non-profit organization serving mental health clients of the Placer County Adult System of Care, who are in need of housing.

Are you a Placer County ASOC client with a mental illness? Are you in need of housing? Call an ASOC House Manager at:
916-787-8800 or 530-889-7240

AMIH in partnership with Placer County Adult System of Care formed the AMIH/ASOC Housing Collaboration.

Support services provided by Placer County ASOC.

Five Housing Programs:

Transitional Level One - This program is designed to assess and intensively support consumers for 90 days. The goal is to transition residents to Level II or Supportive Semi-Independent Housing. The more intensive services allow mental health consumers transitioning out of board and cares, hospitals, and higher levels of care, greater, opportunity of success. The program fees include: rent, utilities, food, one monthly bus pass, and furniture.

Transitional Level Two - This programs is designed to be supportive transitional housing for up to two years. Consumers enter into a program agreement designed to work cooperatively with their mental health treatment plan. The program fees include: rent, utilities, food, one monthly bus pass, and furniture.

Homeless Housing - This program targets the homeless who have a mental illness and is funded by an EHAP grant. It is operated similarly to Level II and I with the only difference being in the program fee structure outlined in the grant.

Supportive Semi-Independent I - These are apartments leased by AMIH with weekly visits provided by a member of the ASOC Staff and/or an AMIH "Friend of the House" for the first six months. As independence improves, visits will be reduced to every other week. A program fee is required which covers the rent and utilities.

Supported Semi-Independent II- This is a group-living arrangement in a house. Consumers are expected to keep up the house cooperatively. They pay a program fee that covers rent, telephone, and utilities. They receive bi-monthly visits from a clinic staff member and/or AMIH "Friend of the House."

A special thanks goes to NAMI-Placer County for all their support in the development of the first Placer County housing program for those living with mental illness.  Eleven years of service went into making it the outstanding program it is today.
